Hi,

I am Michelle, diagnosed with avm around the spinal cord in 1983.  Following surgery to correct that, it continued to grow, this time inside the dura of the spinal cord.  I had numerous embolizations by Dr. Gerard Debrun at Mass General, Johns Hopkins, and University of ILL in Chicago.  Despite all this, the avm continued to grow and cause me walking problems & pain.  Somehow I learned of Cyberknife and Dr. Adler at Stanford.  I sent him my records and went to meet him.  He did an angiogram and felt I would benefit from Cyberknife.  I had 2 sessions in May 2005(I think).  It was explained that this was a long process over years to see results.  By that Halloween, I was in agonizing pain.  A follow-up angiogram showed NO AVM!!!  I highly recommend Cyberknife.  I really helped me.  Hi Dr. Adler!

Dr. Medbery,

I still take the amytriptaline for the pain, and find that keeps it at bay.  I also noticed the spasticity changed and possibly increased.  BUT, no avm..so worth it.

Not a perfect outcome, but pretty good under the circumstances
