Hi All,

I am a son for a mother who has been fighting chondrosarchoma for 5 years now, she did mutiple operation in her lungs to cut out the tumor however the tumor mets kept growing back, we went for the option of the trial chemos which worked for a while but unfortunatley now it has spreaded to mutliple locations, liver, spline and brain plus the original mets in the lungs.

The tumor sizes varies, can we consider cyber knife to remove these tumors and try our luck again with chemotherphy especially in the brain area which cannot be operated with the normal surgeries ?

Thank you in advance.

Certainly Ck can treat the brain and will probably be successful. Treating limited numbers of lung tumors is also possible, although it may not be the best option in this case. Spine tumors can also be treated with great success. His longevity may be improved by brain treatment. The others may improve quality of life, but not longevity. I am sorry you are having to go through this.

I doubt that CK would be much help except in the brain but could be used if necessary.

So in CK it does not matter how large or metastatized the tumor is ?

Size does matter, but there are no definite limits on the size that can be treated. I don't know what you mean by "how metastasized". If you mean the number of metastases, then of course that matters. BUt not really for CK treatment, because at that point CK treatment, although highly effective where applied, cannot treat everything and is palliative rather than curative.
