Hi All,

My mother in law had undergoing chemo after being diagnosed with cancer in the intestine in 04. Surgery was performed and the infection was removed. She's been stable until 07.

In 07, she was diagnosed with liver cancer and undergone 3 sessions of chemo from that time until now. The last session was taken at the beginning of March this year.

But recently at the end of last year, she was also diagnosed with a very small tumor in her lungs. Today, she was scanned and there appears to be "shadows" but not concrete evidence that the lung tumor has grown. The liver also showed a lot of very small "spots" liken to sand spread across a surface or embedded in an object.

The doctors are also suspecting her intestines may be showing signs of cancer relapse but we're scheduling a followup scan in about a month to conclude all of this.

She is on chemo now to keep it in check but the doctors here suspect she must undergo some form of surgery. She is affected after each treatment as it saps her strenght and energy. During our family discussions, she has mentioned how tough it was after surgery and each chemo session.

Would CK be a viable option for any or all of the 3 possible symptoms? We're reviewing options on how to treat her other than chemo and to give her the most comfortable options while helping her fight these problems.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

AB

It does not seem that CK would have any role to play here, especially in the absence of a well defined tumor to treat.  Nonetheless, it would be worthwhile having her films reviewed at a CK facility close to you for an expert opinion rather than relying on the limited information we have at hand.  If not now, then perhaps in the future CK might be useful for her.

It is hard to see how surgery will help if everything you describe is tumor. I would also advise having things reviewed.
