I have recurrent renal cell cancer (papillary) that could not be removed because it was too close to the aorta. I have been stable for a year following IL2 treatment. Can the cyberknife be used on a tumor by the aorta.

Yes, but each case has to have individual review for appropriateness and risk. There are other issues than the aorta.

We have treated a number of patients safely with tumors close to the aorta. We just take great care to protect it in the treatment planning process.
