Facial Numbness

Hi - I have a question. I am seriously considering CK treatment (Georgetown is the closest for me), but have been in the watch and wait mode since July'09.  My latest MRI in Nov showed no growth.  Over the past year (or maybe even longer than that, but definitely before I knew about the AN), I've been getting facial numbness on the AN side.  In fact, numbness is probably too strong of a word, I would call it more like tightness or just acute awareness of the right side of my face (can be anywhere from the earlobe to lips to the temple area). It does happen more when I am tired or when the weather changes. It's not painful in any way, just one of those annoying symptoms. My question is have you had patients who reported this kind of symptom and what happened to it after CK? Does it get worse/better/no change? Or any of the above is possible? Thank you in advance.

Often this kind of symptom gets better over time, but can actually get a little worse sometimes in the 3-12 month period when you can get some swelling of the tumor as it dies and there is a resultant inflammatory response. It is entirely possible that this will get worse without treatment, and if it does you may want to consider treatment more urgently even if their is not visible growth on MRI.

Thank you, Dr. Medbery. I have a doctor's appointment this Wed and will probably go for the treatment sooner rather than later.
